Keep Australia Beautiful (NSW) 2003 Country Energy Tidy Towns Awards

Burrumbuttock Public School has been awarded the 2003 New South Wales Schools Environment Award at the annual NSW Tidy Towns Awards Dinner at Cowra on Saturday 22nd November.

The School of 39 students was awarded the prestigious prize for its outstanding environmental education programs and for its partnership with the volunteer run Wirraminna Environmental Education Centre at Burrumbuttock.

The School was recognized for its outstanding work in providing environmental education opportunities for local schools, curriculum development for teachers, awareness raising in the community of conservation issues and implementing actions that are leading to a more sustainable school.

Principal Mr Owen Dunlop received the award from The Honourable Pam Allan, MP and Chair of Keep Australia Beautiful before an audience of 500 people at Cowra of Saturday evening.
“ The award is a wonderful tribute to the staff, students and community of Burrumbuttock,” Mr Dunlop said.
“ For the school to be recognized as the most outstanding in NSW for 2003 against all school sizes and categories is testimony to the dedication and hard work of so many people and supporters, ” Mr Dunlop added.
